Settle In and Get Out
A hint of fall is finally creeping into the city, letting summer take its leave slowly but offering a taste of cooler temperatures at night. Out on our boats, the breeze feels even better than usual. Our yachts and schooners can be seen kicking up a spray along the Hudson and East River. And while the advent of school and the end of August means less vacation time, it could be a great opportunity to explore within the city. The spirit of discovery could be found right here: in a trip to a new museum, a free class on hacking (I’ve seen it), or a view from the water. If you’ve never experienced Manhattan from the rivers, you should try it at least once. It’s an opportunity to step back from the city, to see it in a way that is impossible from within. Outside the confines of busy streets and tall buildings, your scope is widened, your pace slackened. The Statue of Liberty doesn’t look so small from 100 yards out in the water, from the same vantage point at which immigrants once arced their necks find her face. The Brooklyn Bridge is transformed from a two-dimensional crossing to a soaring behemoth, its underbelly exposed only for those on the river. You don’t have to worry about traffic or noise or where you’re heading while you’re on the Hudson. It’s an opportunity to relax, to spend quality time with family, or enjoy a romantic evening with your partner. We have wine tastings, architecture and infrastructure tours, brunch and dinner cruises, beer and cheese pairings, sushi and sake sails, fall foliage excursions, and more— all in addition to our regular sightseeing trips that run from the afternoon through evening, and which come with complimentary beverages. We’ve had quite a few proposals, bachelor and bachelorette parties, birthdays and anniversaries on our boats. Families, singles, couples, tourists, groups – most everyone seems to thoroughly enjoy our trips. You can take a look at the reviews. So, as we move past the wanderlust of summer, settle in and get out to explore the city!
